Today, the Conciergerie is a museum situated next to The Palais de Justice or law court. The Conciergerie makes an impressive sight especially at night on on Ile de la Cite at the south end of Pont-au-Change. The Conciergerie was used as a prison during the French Revolution and became a most fearful place. Amongst those imprisoned here were Thomas Paine and Mary Antoinette.
